Softly

Softly

A Poem by Lorame

Hold me, softly
Keep me in this dream
Don’t let me go
Things aren’t as they seem
A war wages
Right outside these doors
Too hard to face
It’s best to ignore
Whisper, softly
Tell me how you feel
Drown out the noise
So it seems less real
The war wages
Right outside these doors
Too much to face
What we’re fighting for
Kiss me, softly
So it’s all I know
And I won’t feel
When you have to go
The war wages
Right outside these doors
And it calls you
Calls you to restore
For everyone
All that is held dear
And they need you
Need you to be near
So open, softly
The doors that keep us safe
Open they’ll stay
Unless you’re home late
If you’re not here
When you’re supposed to be
I will know you
Won’t be back for me
Again you go
And I can only pray
That I'll see you
Again after today

A very unique poem/story here.
Tender moments at first to war
that awaits outside the door has
questionable meanings…
A very good read!
