How to Burn a Bridge

How to Burn a Bridge

A Poem by L-inque
"

Walking away from a damaged relationship.

"

Grant yourself permission.

Kindle the flame

only when the foundation

is breached beyond repair.

Know that your fears are unfounded.

They are a mind trip through a maze.

When you accept truth

willingly,

the world is revealed.

Words and deeds that betray trust,

murder love,

wound the soul,

cannot be changed.

Nor can they be forgotten.

Willingly,

the wicked are revealed.

Forgiveness is a notion.

Resentment accomplishes nothing.

Watch the defiled white flag blaze

then,

walk away.

Never look back.
