Sole Sacrifice                           in A Winner’s Mind-Zone

By: Lorraine Pearson

April 28, 2008

Carrying sneakers in my grasp,

While on the pavement, sand and grass,

My feet run naked- numb but fast;

Blistered, tattered, steamed…

Feel the burning brazen sizzle;

Driven to gain the “finish medal,”

These two last miles will cost me

Pain

All week…

Ah, the race to finish eh. It matters not to win or lose but to finish is the goal. So close to the final goal, so easy to give in. just two miles from the finish mark.

Carry sneakers, bare feet now all that's left to keep you going. You sacrificed the soles of your feet, knowing the pain you would suffer all next week just to earn the "finish medal"

In some cases just to finish makes you a winner!

A good write showing that while it is easy to give in, when you you push on regardless of the pain and finish, you are indeed a winner.

Well done

Like they say no pain no gain, but your poem speaks of even more... sometimes when we focus on being the best we forget what matters most leaving us with the greatest pain of all... loneliness!!
