Not one more word

Not one more word

A Poem by Laura Kate

Not one
more
word

please,
don't tell me what you expect
what you need
what I ought to be doing
thinking
feeling

one more word
might be all it takes
to load my car
and drive away

without a single glance back
no thought spared for the past

leaving behind
is moving forward

do we owe it to ourselves
to complete what we've started?

I've come this far
I can't quit now

hanging on to fraying rope
doesn't give me much hope
when your words cut like a knife

so I beg you
please
not one
more
word.

Dear Amanda, thank you for your kind review, it is much appreciated!
Laura
and when someone tells me what i "ought to do"
the last thing i want to do is what that person tells me i need to do.
my rope for that frays quite easily.
