In the Wrong Place

In the Wrong Place

A Poem by Laura Kate

My body lets me know

when it’s in the wrong place,

as if my mind

wasn't paying enough attention.

There’s an empty space

which aches in my chest,

the space where my heart should be.

So often it lunges

taking a leap of faith

trying to make its escape,

looking for an exit

somewhere near my throat.

It never quite makes it

and so it rests,

panting

on the side of my collar bone,

exasperated,

begging me

not to return to the place I have to be,

so  that it doesn't have to return

to where it needs to me

for now.

This is an heart-felt poem showcasing how much someone felt when he/she seems to out of his/her mind.
And I also love it's lines and rhymes.

What a thoughtful watchful piece!

This poem has multi layers. There are many people who from time to time feel they are in the wrong place for many different reasons. You took me back to when my parents moved far away when I was in my late teens. I couldn't go with them. I missed them so much, there was sadness and emptiness for sometime. I remember that constant ache of homesickness. Nicely penned LauraKate.
