Sea Funeral

Sea Funeral

A Poem by Penninc & Vostaert

Sea Funeral

The water washes gently around me.
The wind blows softly in my hair.
The salt bites in the ripped open wounds.

The ground swell lifts me carefully up,
Rocks me slowly asleep,
The water colors warily red.

Finally, I can dream again.
Lastly, I know what happiness is.
Now, when I don’t have to be scared anymore.

The water becomes rougher,
Washes harsh over me,
Pulls me to its dark places.

Sweeps all my thoughts away,
Till there’s nothing left,
Just a great resignation.

There, I became back human,
Then I realized what I always had missed.
But I don’t need it anymore.

Comforting tears are rolling.
My struggle was over.
Yours was just about to begin.
