Silent Scream

Silent Scream

A Poem by Ripples of My Thoughts

The concept of freedom,

The value of life,

Is all dependent on how others see you

And what you look like.

Although melanin may protect you from the sun,

It doesn’t save you from the monsters that live on Earth.

It doesn’t give you the right to speak your mind,

Because it may hurt someone’s pride.

I thought all children were the same,

Fabricated from the same cloth of life.

But what I see today, proves otherwise.

The power-hungry monsters are not under our beds,

They negotiate with the devil in their nests,

Pushing us into our darkest corners,

Where nightmares morph into stark reality.

Who grants someone a right to say who gets to live or die,

The purpose of life seems awry,

Turning a blind eye to the disasters that surround us,

Let the people in power command us.

Label it a war, retaliation, or dispute,

But we all know the truth,

Beneath it all, in shadows wide,

A silent scream - a genocide.

It is time to speak the truth,

Raise your voice,

To stand up for the ones,

Who don’t have a choice.

Stand tall, speak loud,

Injustice must be disavowed.

Together, we can rewrite the story,

A narrative of hope, love, and shared glory.
