I am a Miracle

I am a Miracle

A Poem by Lowesy

Finally, I can breathe.

Mummy, please look at me

I can walk, I can talk,

I can stand up really tall.

Take notice of what you see,

Mummy, please look at me.

Don’t dismiss me as normal,

Cos I am a miracle.

(Bridge)

You never attended my parents’ evenings,

Assuming all was alright.

That was the mistake

You made, I’m afraid

I’ve slipped out of the light,

I’m no longer a star.

In fact I’m quite far

Out of reach.

Take notice of what you see,

Mum, please look at me.

Don’t dismiss me as normal,

Cos I am a miracle.

I’ve decided to be on my own

But you won’t let me leave.

Despite during my whole life,

You ignored me.

Not once have I ever heard

That you love me,

Except once when you were drunk

But that’s not what I need.

Give me love,

Give me attention,

Give me something to hold on to

And not just the memories of you

Ignoring me.

Take notice of what you see,

Mother, please look at me.

Don’t just dismiss me as normal,

Cos I am a miracle.

It is an awful place to be as a child and too many have witnessed or have been locked up helpless in this hell. A harsh reality to me so I take it to heart. Message conveyed....
