One Man's Story

One Man's Story

A Poem by Lowesy

I wanna take you through a story I heard,

About a man who once lost the world

He gave up on the concept of life

And life itself,

He was devastated about losing his wife

And her death.

Once upon a time a plane took this man,

All the way from Ireland to Afghanistan.

He took his wife along with him for the ride,

But when the gun fire started they had no place to hide.

The bullets ripped the plane apart

And a few of the bullets pierced his wife’s heart

She died there and then in his arms

And here is where his story starts.

Never again, never again,

Should we let someone’s life come to this

Come to this,

We gotta take the positives,

Positives,

From life, and not get swept away

With the waves

Never again, never again,

Should we let someone’s life come to this

Come to this,

We’ve gotta take the positives,

Positives,

From life and not get swept away,

With the waves.

Devastation hit this man hard,

He found difficult to return to Ireland

And go back to what he once knew as life,

Without his soul mate at his side.

So he fixed up, thought of plan,

He sold everything he owned to get back to Afghanistan,

He bought himself a pistol,

And kept it in his bag,

And went on a one man mission

To find one man

To cut the head off the snake,

So the serpent of terrorism will fall.

And get revenge from his wife,

For the murder of the love of his life.

Never again, never again,

Should we let someone’s life come to this

Come to this,

We gotta take the positives,

Positives,

From life, and not get swept away

With the waves

Never again, never again,

Should we let someone’s life come to this

Come to this,

We’ve gotta take the positives,

Positives,

From life and not get swept away,

With the waves.

He finally found what he was looking for,

Bin Laden’s base

The epicentre of his war.

He takes his gun and points it to a man,

But gets shot before he can

Fire his misery, into the face,

Of destruction everywhere against the white race.

Death to the west, is what they scream

As they pin him down, press his face into the street.

With a boot on his face he cries for his wife,

With his life flashing before his eyes,

The Irish man smiles so wide,

Irish eyes glad for his time.

Never again, never again,

Should we let someone’s life come to this

Come to this,

We gotta take the positives,

Positives,

From life, and not get swept away

With the waves

Never again, never again,

Should we let someone’s life come to this

Come to this,

We’ve gotta take the positives,

Positives,

From life and not get swept away,

With the waves.

Take a look at the world, what do you see?

War, disease and poverty?

With Libya and Syria fighting for peace,

And our thoughts are with the Japanese.

In Switzerland there’s been an avalanche,

And there’s war being declared by the head of France,

USA have gotta have a say,

As they do in every matter today,

The poor are fighting off the recession’s hit,

Do the rich really give a s**t one bit?

We strive and struggle to make ends meet,

And keep our kids off the street.

So why do we do this to ourselves?

Human beings are the race from hell.

We all deserve to die someday,

But this man’s life was not the way.

Yes the world has some serious issues that continue to compile but when narrowed down to one man's grief and sorrow it can mean the difference between reality and something to large to grasp at once. So many sorrows in this poem, as the reader I am still wrapped up in the man.
Nicely done.
