Self Love

Self Love

A Poem by D. E. Way

Look in the mirror-
A ball of feelings, memories and experience,
Such beauty:
Of insecurity, regrets and mistakes;
But that's OK,
Take your time and set your pace;
You're a lovely little Ace.

Don't beat yourself up
For a little trip down
Back to a dark place you thought you forgot;
Take your time, love yourself,
You're the only one you got.

The mirror often reflects what we don't want to see, even if it's the truth. We can get lost in the glass. It draws us in and whispers truths and lies. We believe some of both.

Sometimes, we can be our own best friend when we accept what we see and what that quiet voice says to us. Love of one's self is a must to love another. And, you've captured that well in this poem. Well written with the sincerity and humility of a poet.
