The Best Couple

The Best Couple

A Poem by Ally Baker

Voted The Best Couple

For their senior yearbook

Others think they're perfect

Together, a true match.

All the girls are jealous

Wishing they could be the one

Wrapped in his arms, having his

Lips whispering in their ears

They want what thy see

But if they saw his "other side"

They would quickly, without hesitation

Change their minds so completely.

If only they could see what

His hands did to her body in private

How where they touched her, the

Next day a  bruise would start to form.

If only they could see how he

Screamed at her, throwing things.

How they would break and he'd

Tell her to clean it up, make herself useful.

If only they could see how he

Blantantly abused her when he could

But no one ever saw, ever noticed.

Her false smiles wiped away any suspicions.

So he and she are known as

The Best Couple of their senior year

What a painful, tragic write.. feeling that overwhelming sensation of what appears so perfect, yet underneath lies such a horror. Powerfully written.

Wow! This was so sad. I hate that some gorls have to go through this. This is why you should wait for God to give u someone that won't treat u this way. You wrote a great poem thogh! :)

I f*****g loved this. There is so much more to everything than meets the eye, a very small number of people like you and me are lucky enough to see beyond the plain images and expose what they really are.

This is a great poem, and you're 14? Impressive. Keep it coming and you'll reach the stars.
