The Creature Inside the PlumtreeA Poem by RabbitInspired by the plum tree at the end of the street.
I wonder....I wonder
How many plums we can gather this summer? To thy plum tree with your fruits so high To climb you and reach out and pluck them to eat For summers plums are lots of fun In many ways I wonder O'er plum tree What city lies under neath? What creature lurks there? For what fun to have children climbing you To reach for the biggest one! And catching your falling fruit with hankerchief''s Play'n cowboy and Inju'ns in rings around your neck And after all the games are played and have finished the day To gather up all the plums and share them out But little did they know or even stop to 'n' see Through all the holes he peeps... Are eyes of the creature that lives inside the plum tree For this is where he sleeps In the city underneath And.... Awakens when children come to pick his plums And climb his tree Pulling them down By hands 'n' feet And keeps them inside the walls Of the city underneath feeding the Plumtree Eating them with his teeth There are whispers all through the town In folkish tales to make one's ears prick up 'n' listen; Beware beware children ! the summer plumtree!! So many just do not know why These are the best plums in the street!! © 2016 RabbitReviews
