Last Day: Prologue

The prologue to my collection of short stories titled "Last Day"

"
Clothos sat before her loom, forever weaving the tapestry of time. She swayed in sync with the movement of the boat shuttle. Back and forth, back and forth, like the gentle waves washing upon a shore. Her humming and the clacking of the shuttle kept her and her sisters harmonized, forever moving the tapestry forward.
Lachesis chimed in with a melancholy whistle to accompany the song of her younger sister. Her movements were swift as she measured the tapestry and marked the lives of mortals, punctuated by the clack of the shuttle. Click, clack. Click, clack.
The only sound that could be heard from their oldest sister, however, was the snipping of her scissors. As the shuttle clacked her scissors snipped. Carefully, she followed the measurements laid out by her sister. Snip, snip. Back and forth. Click, clack. After every snip came the wailing of a mortal soul as it descended into the underworld. The mournful song of the fates continued. Click, Clack. Snip, snip. Wail. Click, clack. Snip, snip. Wail. Ever weaving the tapestry of time.
