An Elegy for Dreams?

An Elegy for Dreams?

A Poem by Lwydd
"

A pessimistic outlook on the future based on frustrated attempts at pursuing dreams?

"

Elegy for Dreams?

How can I cry,

When my heart is dry?

The chambers of my mind

Once offices of knowledge refined

Are blank and gone

My hopes drowned and done.

Why write when nothing will change?

Where to escape when all is strange?

The sense of loss and  futility

Is found in everything I try to be

So why write?

When horizons are but a dark night?

Perhaps a farewell is proper

An elegy for my dreams,

Buried in realism

Buried in a dried heart.
So, how can I cry?

When I still possess,

The ghost of what I longed for?

Excellent work! I can totally sense the frustration and angst. Something many of us on this site can relate to. I think the line "Once offices of knowledge refined are blank and gone" captures the emotion perfectly.
