but i digress

but i digress

just about drowning in my stream of consciousness

so many words floating through my mind
over there, don’t you see?
mary poppins and peter pan have taken them hostage
i mean
where is that fairy godmother when i need her?
she could just wave that silly magic wand
and turn them all into a poem!
and another thing
where is the famous AFL-CIO picket line?
surely they would have signs pleading with all citizens to
FREE VERSE
seems like they have all abandoned me tonight
so here i remain
words and syllables everywhere
and not a drop of poetry to write
the yellow brick road cannot be followed
it’s closed for repair
seems like there oughta be a law, ya know?
perhaps i am not really a poet at all
i just play one on line
but i digress...

I feel like you just wrote the script to my upcoming movie "Words Hate Me". The use of language, as always, is brilliant (I can easily envision picketers screaming "What do we want ?" Verse be free / "When do we want it ?" "Immediately !"). But, I too digress. Very excellent look at those times when words and concepts are everywhere, but our pen cannot quite capture them. ~Jim
