so
many words floating through my mind
over there, don’t you see?
mary poppins and peter pan have taken them hostage i mean
where is that fairy godmother when i need her?
she could just wave that silly magic wand
and turn them all into a poem! and another thing
where is the famous AFL-CIO picket line?
surely they would have signs pleading with all citizens to FREE VERSE
seems like they have all abandoned me tonight
so here i remain
words and syllables everywhere
and not a drop of poetry to write
the yellow brick road cannot be followed
it’s closed for repair
seems like there oughta be a law, ya know?
perhaps i am not really a poet at all
i just play one on line but i digress...
I feel like you just wrote the script to my upcoming movie "Words Hate Me". The use of language, as always, is brilliant (I can easily envision picketers screaming "What do we want ?" Verse be free / "When do we want it ?" "Immediately !"). But, I too digress. Very excellent look at those times when words and concepts are everywhere, but our pen cannot quite capture them. ~Jim

Oh how I relate to this one!! All those words and not one line formed..drives me crazy! But I guess as long as you have the words there's still hope. ;-)

Lydi, You can write about anything my friend, with elegance, intelligence and humor.
Love the bit about the yellow brick road being closed for repair...there oughta be a law - I agree!

Thank you very much, Julie.....just saw you've posted a few...off to read now. Lydi**
I can relate to this write...a stream of conciousness that evokes an internal emotion in me. I think you executed the form quite well, and the last line really brings things together in terms of your concept. I also loved the imagery and reference to "Peter Pan" and fairy tales...these things that we cling to as ideals which haunt us like little misfit fairies causing more harm, often, than good. And I think that you really are a poet :)
I have felt like this at times. Love this stream of thoughts which born as a poem. Really cool write Lydi, very creative. Wish I could think like that.
PS Thank you for your friendship. :)

And thank you, Revery. I appreciate the review and the friendship. Lydi**
I've chased so many rabbits I feel like a beagle sometimes...(laughing) I know all about the thousand thoughts at once. What can I say? It's better than writer's block! An interesting and humorous write; fun to read.

Glad you enjoyed. Fabian. Thanks for letting me know! Lydi**
I would say you've written yourself a very good poem, Lydi, even as you digress. Poetry is in your blood and you can never escape it. I think it chases you down the street and demands you write. lol This is a charming and very funny poem. I like it a lot!

Oh my goodness, gracious - I can certainly relate to your words as I don't think there's an hour I don't have a thought of some kind spinning around in this twisted up brain of mine! I absolutely love how you have explained what happens, and your words all make sense......lol
Clever words streaming along on one line - we digress, but when? When we are in a deep sleep, "me thinks"!
Don't worry, the poem will come from it!!!
And the image certainly sets the tone for a state of absolute ????????
