Intentions

Intentions

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

I’m sure

the tree had good intentions

when it sucked in all that sunshine and rain

(growing like a weed as it were)

but Emily Post would not be pleased

watching its elbows come up through the concrete

so what good are intentions anyway?

on this steamy Sunday

the calendar says it’s not summer anymore

but the heat index never did follow the rules

(of course neither did I)

so I’m off to walk through the wet sand

there I’ll watch the saltwater erase my footprints

so what if our intention was to make you notice

by example for all those years

you never really did

intentions be damned!

What a wonderful piece on "Intention" you made, everybody has some intentions to do what they want to do but when they don't get any way to reach at the place where their intention lies, "Damned" word helps 'em to make another Intention.. lol to do what they wish to do in a day... an every new day. I loved this piece. It's well expressed under your Intentions of great thoughts. Once again you did an amazing job as always you do.

We may work hard to set a good example for another/others to follow and then in the end find it hasn't really mattered either enough, or perhaps not at all, as what we have tried to teach has been ignored. The best of intentions are often those that don't mean enough to those we love. When we realize this, we must do as you have - live on, enjoy life and realize the end result is not our fault!
Good write for a Sunday afternoon!!

Thank you Zach. Lydi**
and emily post be damned...everything seems to be about appearances and perceptions..when it is what is inside and what we accomplish that matter---intentions usually go awry...

seems better when things just happen on their own.

really like this poem...

Yes, those trees we have in our cities/// they become iconic, tipping the sidewalk up like it owns the spot... where I trip at night repeatedly on my way home from visiting someone. Yes, that does look familiar to me....

Thank you so much for visiting my page and leaving your words. Lydi**
Intentions leave indentions and when it is acted upon it leaves constructions or destructions based on the motives. I like how you compare nature by having its own intentions too which can be good or deadly...Bravo
