vulnerability

vulnerability

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

life points out that which we would like to ignore

"

conversations reach a natural ending
cycles are pedaled to the nearest segue way
while the universe as we know it gasps for air

time’s reflection knowingly winks at me
from the other side of the funhouse mirror
the arthritic rotation of my axis
creaks just a little more

instinctively i know there is a star in the sky
(even though it is noontime)
wanting to twinkle more
than anything has ever wanted to twinkle

rich openness mingles with ambiguity
i am once again reminded
(a rude awakening as it were)
of not just human vulnerability
but of my own

Vulnerability is not weakness…let time tick on and things change…physically and otherwise, it’s part of our story and people lie when they say it’s the worst part…though I can’t speak from experience! You are an insightful woman Lydi and I’m sure I will always learn from you! Wonderful poem!

We often fall into the trap of being comfortable where we are and then finding out this is not where we were meant to be, or want to be - it may be noontime but the desire to change our position transcends that which we call time. When we let another know of our feelings and they are rejected, or we come to the realization that this is the "it of it" in life, we receive a jolt of truth and we get that wink of "ah ha, you knew it would come at some point".......anyway, I am perhaps rambling on but I can identify with you in that some of my writings also speak of the disappointments that at times besiege me.

Gasping for air - trying so very hard to survive and understand it, life moving on when one does not want it to be as it is, and we just try to survive and understand the ambiguity that results from the rich openness! Why, why, why???? The answers are too often not easy ones to attain, nor accept!

An excellent, insightful write Lydi!!

Very introspective and thought-provoking. My favorite lines are two which speak to me "... time’s reflection knowingly winks at me / from the other side of the funhouse mirror...". Yeah, who cannot identify with how quickly someone else is in our mirror. Segue way .... almost a mini tongue-twister LOL. Nicely done. ~Jim

Vulnerability is an important aspect of our existence for it reveals to us the friend from the enemy , the power from the weakness , the success from the failure...A splendid read and write. Always commendable...:)
