Tomorrow

Tomorrow

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

just another Manic Monday!

"

artwork courtesy of etsy.com

The rainswept street
         now polished with puddles
intrigues me
                   my mind
                                marinated in humidity
watches a butterfly as she kisses
that perfect blossom
                          at my wits’ end
I promise myself
I’ll only rewrite this line of poetry
                                      one more time
unfortunately today is not the day
to pass go or collect $200-
           nope

the Reading Railroad
has canceled the 7:00 train
and the hotels on Boardwalk
are booked for the night
                        so fiddle dee dee
                along with Scarlett
I guess I’ll worry about most everything
                                   tomorrow

Oh yes.. sometimes a situation is only as dire as we perceive it to be. The cancelled train and streets full of polished puddles might not be that bad after all. I'm just like you...I leave all the worrying to tomorrow....never allowing it to ruin my night's sleep. Wonderful poem here, my friend....making those manic mondays a bit more bearable.

great work! I had a dream once and for some odd reason.... this poem reminds me of it.
of the calm world in my dream but then things went crazy and we had this huge war and it was not so calm and peaceful.
THANKS FOR PINNING!

i like the poem... sort of sombre sort of has an air of relaxed acceptance that nothing can be done today but tomorrow will bring with it possibility

My mind marinated in humidity. Was a perfectly exquisite line. The whole poem sings off the page Lydi it is just so beautifully vivid. Sometimes tomorrow is the best choice of all.

I so appreciate the time you took to read and review my words. Thank you! Lydi**
Lola was right when she described this lovely concept . I have to look at the words " marinated in humidity " and pause myself for a long while . What does the writer mean by these words ? Capturing a multiple ideas and preserving it at the same time perhaps just like how in the old days when they preserve food by smoking it ( marinated in humidity ) .
A poet simultaneously multitasking in thoughts and in form.

You're very welcome (typo: THIS was)
I loved the usage of words for conveying the exasperation. You are awesome with words and imagery. I also loved the witty reference to Scarlett O Hara. All of it made for a superbly entertaining read. No one could have created the Monday Mood better! Heartfelt compliments!

You are most welcome Lydi. :)
The amalgamation of thoughts and multiple references running side by side is brilliant.
I think you've created another form!

I loved the lines:
"My mind marinated in humidity" and
"I promise myself
I’ll only rewrite this line of poetry
one more time"

How often we write and rewrite and write again... such a honest flow of consciousness.
Great write, Lydia.
