in your dreams

in your dreams

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

it's friday!

my red dress
will hang
on the chair
beside you
leaving me
in only
ivory skin
pouty lips
and a hint of jasmine

penetrating desire
will embrace us
as dionysus
winks from
the mirror
channeling secrets
of carnal pleasure

just for tonight
let me lie down
in your dreams
where threads
of passion
will meander
‘tween fibers of lust
and all will be right
with the world

Your Friday night writes are just as passionate on a Wednesday night.
This is so simple and yet so softly sensual and elegant...I am speechless. You have outdone yourself.

What a well written poem. I love poems with good imagery. The fact that it falls in the dream category just made me nod my head even more.

The imagery here and the underlying yearning for all to be right was so beautifully entwined.

This was a stunning and strong stanza to end on. I loved it. Thanks for sharing :)

I'm getting to this after Friday has passed but I have a feeling the red dress will be ready for another night of sensual delight - perhaps before the next one! Your words are seductive enough to make that mirror hide its face.......lol
I love it!!

''and all will be right
with the world'
romantic and heartfelt
maybe it is something we
should all strive for, grace and beauty
should never be underestimated

You are welcome Lydi:)
The kind of very personal poem, that nevertheless fits any lover, or would-be lover--an "all-purpose" objet d'arte that lets the world identify.
