a cup of caffeine

a cup of caffeine

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

a stranger locks eyes with you over a coffee cup...mmmm...imagine the possibilities.

"

ordering a cup of caffeine
with just a squirt of vanilla
a bit of sweetness never hurts
you smile a knowing smile
your inner voice
                      or is that inner vice?
speaks to mine
i drink in your meaning
         long and slow
a voyeur might call it a “kodak moment”
but the smoking gun is hidden
deep in the folds of my imagination

you know I used to make around eight hundred cups of coffee a day ... I would always lock eyes with many a man and many a woman ... I would say perhaps ten percent of them would give a little back ... these were the people that knew the passion in life and the magic in the moment and the joy of connection ... what a lovely trip down memory lane ... you have captured the moment incredibly well x x

Provocative piece.
Brings to mind the Dylan song, 'One more cup of coffee'
I like that song.
I like this poem too.

Being compared to Dylan is a major compliment. Thank you. Lydi**
Absolutely love it!! I drink Vanilla Lattes each day...Love the "inner voice" vs. "inner vice"...

A fine poem; the imagination is USUALLY where I meet women!

I really enjoy this, like the romance in it and how it all relates back to the cup of coffee, very imaginative :)

It's when that smoking gun is used that the coffee becomes the perfect temperature to sip - long, slow sips of course............love this - ah, that inner vice makes the "passion ions" in my mind go wild!

"long slow sips" of course! :) Smiling here! Thanks for the review, Sheila. lydi**
You had me at coffee. A squirt of vanilla and a bit of sweetness. This is real magic. Nice flow of thoughts leading to a very nice ending. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
