we remain

we remain

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

forever friends may go in different directions in life, but a connection remains

"

the wall of sand inches closer on one side

the mighty ocean on the other

while in the language of repetition we walk

and the waves roll

                   gently, steadily, unstoppingly

we remember…or do we?

which one of us has wandered off the sandy path?

time pushed our hearts and minds ahead an hour

but not to save daylight

the stale breath of history eats our words

and common ground erodes with each passing year

yet somehow we remain forever

friends

If the bond is strong then distance situation problems nothing matter. In the end the bonds forged with friends running strong is what matters most. As usual beautifully written the flow sublime, a lot of imagery invoked and above all the brevity of this write enhances the impact. Thank you for sharing

really like this....friendships have their ebbs and flows..we veer off the path...but somehow finds it again...

i really like the lines about saving daylight as opposed to the stale breath of history...and we might not keep in touch so well...but we still know the other is there in a pinch.

Exactly....old friends mean a lot. Thanks for the review, Jacob. Lydi**
I've missed your beautiful poetry Lydi. There are forever friends...those you are connected to always. Lovely poetry and the picture is almost as lovely as your words.
