jigsaw world

jigsaw world

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

it's friday night

"

the flavor of your words
ah, the way they tickle my tongue with sweetness
leaving me breathless
indeed, like chocolate coated delicacies to savor
through starry nights and sun drenched dawns

ever on the cusp of affection
                 i teeter
like a wide brimmed hat on a windy day

the water colored edges of my life
burst into vibrant color when we are together
then hang over the mantle of my world

such a sweet reminder
of how well we fit together
in this crazy jigsaw world

ah Lydi, when the pieces fit together, when "the water colored edges of my life / burst into vibrant color when we are together", the world may be a "crazy jigsaw", but a beautiful word puzzle comes to life... those 'chocolate flavored words' so sweet and well spoken do play havoc on a tongue... the kind of havoc only a perfect fit can create... and that teetering hat will stay on your head even in the storms of love!!

Lydi, you write such exquisite tasting love poems, they are just too hard to resist, so I just savor those chocolate words and sigh a 'NICE' sigh!! What a treat on a Saturday morning...

A beautiful love poem. A beautiful choice of phrases and the conclusion is wonderful. It is indeed a crazy jigsaw world and how fortunate are those who have found the missing pieces.

dear Lydi, "over the cusp of affection i teeter
like a wide brimmed hat on a windy day...
the water colored edges of my life burst into vibrant color
when we are together". Poetry is an expression of
things felt, but not necessarily seen, with the exception
of your art. truly, Pat

You are a sweetheart. Thank you so much, Pat. Lydi**
While I love every word of this sweetly flowing collection of sensory observations, I most love stanza 2 (mind-blowing analogy of hat on windy day) . . . and stanza 4 (nice comfortable jigsaw analogy). I always learn so much from reading your poetry, as I travel from 30+ years of structured technical writing, to hopefully a more playful, sensory approach to writing.

someone like a rock to us and a whirlwind, too - romance and friendship - what a package - everyone would love that - love it in this poem - someone who'll be the hand to hold ours - arms that'll embrace us totally - someone who'll turn our world upside down and complete us, finally

Crazy!! Well yeah I guess that's how would like to feel when I find my other jigsaw puzzle piece( hopefully sometime soon) Goes without saying the analogies used here are so nicely executed. Your imagery is a dish now I have come to savor here. And today there was dessert as well ^^ Na leaving my stupid jokes aside. Some splendid word play yet again and your flow sublime. It's always a treat when I read your works. Yeah I love the watercolor painting analogy the most though, I guess my kind of feeling in it. ^^ Thank you for sharing ^^ I enjoyed it

"the flavor of your words" ...indeed.
Those that have a palate for sensory escape and bliss in vivid technicolor know where to come!
'Technicolor' ...as opposed to today's digital enhancement, Lydia, remember? :-)

Thanks for the share!!
