the moon laughed at me last night
and this morning the sun snickered
the palm fronds took
their morning bath of sunshine
spiders wove their webs
and still i was stagnant
unchanging
               then
on the glider
of a faraway patio
i sat
till thorns of a rose
pricked my mind
bringing thoughts of you
to the forefront
emptying pockets of self doubt
and suddenly
i smiled

"their morning bath of sunshine"---"emptying pockets of self-doubt"
wicked lines in a dazzling piece of description...yes, those thoughts to erase self-doubt are often several patios away...if only we can reach them before we get too pricked by that rose...
she symbolizes contentment...but lots of unsureness perks up around her.

Mind travel, like good poetry, can transport us to a better place, though the doubts seem to come back with sundown. I like the independence and strength conveyed here. The speaker shows vulnerability and the acceptance of it. Love the photo, too.

You're welcome, Lydia. Happy Tuesday to you.
I love this poem as it showcases the way you write . . . and think & feel . . . like no other. You have a perfect sense of timing, as far as the slow coaxing of a smile as your poem goes along. Even tho I enjoy the reticence of your narrator, the first 3 lines describe me & at that point I'm already laughing out loud at the marvel of everything around me in a big laughing crescendo! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
