![]() Misguided ConfidenceA Poem by Lykos![]() Don't drink and drive![]()
The sun started to rise and came up into sight,
We had partied hard and drank all night. It was time to go so we packed up our gear, The drink gave me an edge and I had no fear. Even when another way was expressed, I had a choice and decided what was best, I ordered them in and I thought I had control, But the consequences will forever plague my soul. I gripped the wheel going around a bend, You need to slow down shouted my friend. But it was too late the car skidded and flipped, No seat belt on and out the window I was flicked. Every second I can't even think of my own loss, For each week on their graves grows more moss. 3 gone, 1 brain dead and me that makes five, I'm the only one left now to keep our memories alive. Mothers cared for their sons from womb to full bloom, Because of me had to lower them into a tomb. No longer would they feel that loving embrace, Or see their sons enter home with a smile on their face. In hospital the families came in to me, They said because of what I done, I'd never be free. It was my fault, I took responsibility and the blame. For the rest of my life I'll live with the guilt and Shame. Two years have past and still in this hospital bed I lie, Still wondering why I survived and didn't die. I got my punishment for the stupid action I chose, Paralysed from the neck down to my toes. © 2019 LykosReviews
