Nihilo

Nihilo

A Poem by M. J. C. Mata
"

Despite it all, there is still the fact that it all may not matter.

"

I am a king who sits alone

Amidst the riches of his throne.

Vested with powers great and strong,

With a life he can't have for long.

I am a teacher, great and wise,

Who just can't see her different lies.

Gifted with knowledge as precious as gems,

Like fruits that burden my brittle stems.

I am a master of many trades,

With no one to bet their aces and spades.

Given no chance to prove my mettle,

With no choice to mediocrity must settle.

I am a lover with boundless love,

Whose chances denied by those from above.

Granted with women I eternally adore,

Yet, to go further is forbidden to implore.

I am worthless in the eyes of men,

Despised and hounded up to no end.

In the end all I want is to try

To get some peace when I go to die.
