First Dance

Once in a lifetime 'Connection'

I still remember our first dance 

The surprise ….. the feeling of ‘home’ 

I held your hand, you made me dance 

I danced like I’ve never danced before 

 

I was in awe ! I was euphoric 

I wondered where you were all this time

A connection so hard to build 

You nailed it in a second

 

This connection is like no other 

It’s effortless , real, natural

Bodies don’t lie, hearts don’t make mistakes.

I fell for you when I shouldn’t 

 

I know it’s not right

How something so wrong can feel so right 

I wish I knew how not to feel 

I’ve tried so hard but it's impossible  

 

Fires burning knowing no end

Why ? I ask myself 

Dreaming dreams that can only be dreams 

Bringing me heartache and pain 

 

I want you more

I can’t want you 

I know it’s wrong …. 

I’m not a superhero 

 

I need strength to stay sane 

To be sincere, not betray 

Can I watch over you from afar ?

In my heart now, forever and always

Bodies may not lie, but they do know what they want. Hearts may not seem to make mistakes at the time, but a few years later may see things altogether differently. Loving from afar may not be satisfying but at least it's safe.
