A Poem by Mario Claiborne
"

A sonnet both discussing and expressing the struggle of reticence in the undertaking of love.

"

Consummate and complete our love would be and will

Should I muster some sort of unforeseen courage,

For no short amount of bravery could fulfill

The intricate task (that one would oft discourage,

One’s self acting as the mental antagonist)

Of meeting face to face clad only in feelings,

Which might be embraced, or depressingly dismissed,

Further dragging my love for thee in dark sealings.

Confined inside this very sonnet, in each line,

Doth a riddle dwell, defined first and first, second

And second, altering never, a firm design;

In this constant pattern lies the name from heaven.

   If discovered, reticence may no longer stand;

   In your final judgement, I will heed your command.
