A Lovely Spring

A Lovely Spring

A Poem by M.G Spoelstra
"

I wrote this in Challenge English last year when I got tired and sick of winter.

"

Down by the recreation area,

The snow disappears

And I know it is no feria,

But Spring is near

The birds sing cheep-cheep-cheep

The mother is feeding her chirping chicks

After the meal the mother says “Go to sleep,”

As her babies doze off on the sticks

Out in the grass,

A family is having a picnic

Tasty sandwiches, juicy strawberries, cold Coke, and the cake always last,

Spring is terrific

I step into the falling rain

The smell of wiggly worms in my nose,

I tripped and fell, and my ankle sprained

The water drops were making me wet to my toes

Outside has started to heat,

Flowering time was splendid

Exams are complete

Spring has ended
