BIG OLD HOUSE ON A HILL

Imaginative and thought provoking.

Such a big old wooden house on a hill, what a sight you are
enormous, conspicuous, standing steadfast and stubborn,
centuries old yet a timeless face. however, can't help but
feel a sense of loneliness an air of no importance worn
out like an old pair of shoes not needed anymore. How
amazing you must have stood in your day like a sudden
rush of wonder and awe built from the finest of wood 
tough and resilient. A safe haven for many a soul no
doubt and a friend that stands watching  over, not
just a house on a hill but, a guardian that giveth
shelter from the wind and rain. You escaped all
but time;  even though frail your outer exterior
can hold it's own.  Accuse you not of lack of
fashion sense, however, a house of wood
cannot compete in a world of bricks and
mortar, a task far too reaching.  A notice
on the door speaks of a sad tale, the end
of an era ("Tomorrow For Demolition") bit
by bit, piece by piece, they'll tare into you
like a lion to its prey" a thought for you they
will not spare, attacking viciously and crudely
in a mindset of oblivion emotionless and
undiscerning, the audacity, a land mark of
art and history to be replaced by a monument
of assembled brick. Ah, I bid you farewell big
old house on the hill, it was a sad and brief
acquaintance, but what a sight you are,
what a sight you are.
