A Poem by MOON

Covet

If you count all the seconds, the minutes the hours

I know you did not count on this

If you nurtured the seeds, saw it flower

I know you did not count on this

For how you could have known the world was to turn

Spring would bring cinders and sorrows to burn

The world as you know it

Snuffed and vaporised

I know you did not count on this

Calling for air and isolation unfair

Where was it written, who heard the call?

If you waken tomorrow, fill your lungs with breath

Then you privileged even if you are in debt

When you marshall the forces

Count all the losses

The trauma of body and mind

You did not count on this

For every hero on the frontline

There are cowards behind

Making political and economic gain

on human remains

You did not count on this

I think it was last year, a young girl in London died from breathing in car emissions outside her house.
You can probably multiply this worldwide now. The evidence is reaching us, by water, by fire, time is running out.

Honest and direct words dear MOON.
"Calling for air and isolation unfair
Where was it written, who heard the call?
If you waken tomorrow, fill your lungs with breath
Then you privileged even if you are in debt"
The above lines are solid and true. You left many things for the reader to ponder. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

this is one of the best poems written on this situation...yes, we did not count on this, and the bodies are getting to be too many to count.
So much of this could have been avoided...it just could have....I so strongly believe that and it makes me incredibly sad...bewildered at human nature...and thankful for those on the front line who are the real heroes in all of this...when others are put before self. These days that is as rare as that breath is for those suffering from this disease.
