Six Seconds to Destroy a Love Poem

Six Seconds to Destroy a Love Poem

A Poem by Mackenzie R. Friday

No more glass eyes and love poems
Second thoughts and milestones

Fake roses and mocking birds
Long nights and short words

Now please
Stop
The “just one more”
Talk

No more flashes and jokes
Medicated moments and high hopes

Last words and fast reactions
Blind faith and half a*s incisions

Now I’m a
Writer
Instead of a
Murderer

No more screams and sweet tears
Sweating bodies and jealous fears

Our history and our future
Pain was our greatest teacher
