Leaving

Leaving

A Poem by EmKay Bee

There is something about leaving that never feels quite right.
Something in the air that changes through the night.
Sorrow fills your soul and sadness leaks in your heart,
You rethink your theory of needing a new start.
Tears spill from your eyes and sobs escape your mouth.
You think about problems and start pointing them out.
But the day comes and you have to go.
You say goodbye to the people you know...
As you watch your home disappear through the mirror,
The road you're traveling starts to become clearer.
With faith in your pocket and hope in your purse,
You become an optimist and stop thinking the worst.

I love this, particularly the line, "With faith in your pocket and hope in your purse." It's a truth that life inevitably teaches us all. I think the only thing to make this better would be to tighten up the meter to match the perfection of the rhyme. Overall, well done.
