Star

Star

A Poem by Madeline

Star in my eye star in my sky
Twinkling so high above
Though we''re far apart I''ll keep you in my heart
And my heart is full of love

Do I dare to dream that your heavenly beam
Shines down for me alone
I know it can''t be that this gift is for me
But my imagination has already flown

I''m above the trees, the people, and seas
I''m soaring in the sky
Clouds are going past moving by so fast
To the Earth I wave goodbye

It''s quiet out here with the moon so near
I start to leave familiar places behind
There''s time to contemplate the actions that I take
There''s a sense of peace in my mind

The gap is closing no more theoretical supposing
For you''re closer now than ever before
Soon to reach my goal of seeing into your soul
Your guiding light is an open door

Your gravity''s pulling me in I feel my fall begin
Your flames reach out in a fiery embrace
As I start to tumble my fears continue to crumble
Your heat is scorching my face

My flesh has been consumed in your furnace-like tomb
At least mine was a happy demise
Forever we are entwined of body and of mind
My death was our first sunrise

Yet this is only a dream and now I must come clean
Your light is but a token
Never shall I fly to greet you in the sky
And my heart, forever, shall be broken.
