Metaphorical Love

Metaphorical Love

A Poem by Maddi

Falling in love is like a river,

It starts small,

And ends big.

People will try to cross your love,

Like bridges crossing a river.

Sometimes, love makes it to the mouth of

The river.

Sometimes it is stopped by a dam,

Or an oxbow cut short.

Falling in love,

Is like riding a carousel.

There's ups,

And there's downs.

Times where everything whizzes past,

A blur of excitement.

And times where everything moves so slow,

You see everything in such

Sharp,

Bright detail.

You know it's them,

When you feel light headed,

Like you're riding a carousel.

You know it's them when you lose the ability to

Speak.

Like water is drowning out your voice.

But 9 times out of 10:

When your river meets its dam,

When your carousel stops spinning.

Their river keeps on winding,

And their carousel keeps on turning.

Would I be right in thinking the ending implies that when you think someone stops caring about you, they actually probably still do? Or is it a darker ending? Still, a good read.
