Ode to The Wife

Ode to The Wife

A Poem by Madhur Khanna

The rays of the sun, dispersed by the red strands,

Warmth of my coffee, felt in the hands.
Brighter than sunshine, a glimpse of your face,
a kiss of good luck, for the day’s race.

Hercules with the broom, a magician in the kitchen,
and probably a racer in my hatch, I reckon.
A teacher to my kin, very strict at times,
her lullabies soothing amongst stars, melodious wind chimes.

A very honest scream of fright, on seeing a bug,
her heart pounding while giving me a hug.
Her innocent smile- just adequate enough,
her naughty winks- indicating something rough.

A shoulder she offers, whenever I seek,
she’s my fashionista, she’s my geek.
A prayer I write, for this angel from heaven,
let the lord himself protect her forever. Amen!
