Righteous Lies

Righteous Lies

A Poem by Magda E Fahren

I feel us separate ways

We’re walking in a daze

Still I see you, but you’re not there, I

Stare through glazed over eyes

As I tell blatant lies,

Pretend I’m getting on just fine, I

Falter slightly, barely

Hear you speak unfairly

Wishing that you would just refrain, I

A fool, I dare, I deign,

To believe once again

Losing strength, my only anchor, I

Fall again and see you stand,

Reach out, don’t grab my hand

Face down in the dirt and gravel, I

Glance up to you for hope

With your words, I can’t cope

End these delusions of reality, I

Fade out your righteous lies,

Fade out your righteous lies,

Fade out.
