She sang to them, Wailing beautiful and uneasy notes. The sea sprayed its foam upon their faces As they leaned to hear her voice... It's unearthly sound resonated in the unnaturally silent storm. All that mattered was her. There-- Singing their lullaby into death.
Spiritually sound in my opinion. I do mean religious, but it touches the imagination and reaches outside the physical realm to stroke something beyond sight.
I have both a deep love and a deep fear of the ocean. There's something hypnotic about it, something altogether terrifying. There's another kingdom beneath the endless waves... to experience it, we need to let go of the lives we have here.
In that way, a siren would be a frightening thing indeed!

Being stuck in the middle of nowhere I have this fascination with the sea. I would love to live on the coast somewhere so this was easy for me to fall into. Nice imagery and form.
