Minutes Before Midnight

Minutes Before Midnight

A Poem by Karishma Magvani

We fell in love inside the seconds that seperate days.
In the minutes before the midnight hour.. when the day we’d shared bordered on the next.
The night was a home to us as we stood under the sky of a thousand stars absent
of any wishes when the time came for one to fall.
He held me too tight it seemed, but only because the feeling of
arms tensing around me had become to unfamiliar by then.
The air was cold & his shivers shook the ground.
The earth moved around him; abided by him.
Gravity; a slave to his feet as he walked.
And the moon; the moon seemed to follow him wherever
he went as if guided by a leash in his hand.
He was the center of all that surrounded him.
And even now I can’t help but think he could warm the
earth with the slightest touch, & he could change the world with a smile.
