For love and For Pain

<3 Just some thoughts that I predicted about a romatic entanglement I was in from November of 2009.

I felt it coming, so no need to stress...
and you're gonna leave...just like all the rest
you say you wanna talk with scabs on your knuckles and
regret in your eyes
...so I'll say "sure" and fake surprise
I'm not gonna yell and I'm not gonna cry
Won't beg you to stay or even ask 'Why'
You'll say that I wrecked you while you're wrecking me
cuz what's inside you'll never see.
So don't say what you don't mean
just cut me quick and make it clean.
You can't break whats already broken ..except for trust
So one last drink...Here's to us:
To have and to hold
To hurt and control
Now there's no one left to kiss and console.

u rhyming is so good ! love this piece to have and to hold to hurt and control so true for me i for some reason am drawn back in to the toxic hurt and control in her over and over again and that broken trust ... thamk-you for your transparency into ur heart ...

Thank you for reading and commenting! And yeah, the pain in relationships can keep you stuck in the same place even after it is over, somehow thinking something can be fixed or changed. I know that all too well and sometimes it can change but only you know when to draw the line and that was the basis for this poem. Luckily, for me the subject of this poem was an ending but also a new beginning as well.

"You can't break what's already broken..." Such a powerful line here. I loved this piece and sometimes, you just know when things aren't working anymore, when the other isn't happy. There's just a feeling and you don't have to hear it, but you act different cause you want to hear the person say it to your face instead of just hiding it like a coward. Love is strange in many ways. Something so beautiful, yet can end up being so destructive.

Thank you! I really appreciate you reading and commenting. It definitely cuts.... and still does. Unfortunately some situations just keep cycling....I'm finally forced to climb out of the sink as opposed to just circling the drain.
