The boy who stepped out of line

Poem based on a survival-game story I'm working on. Twelve people have been gathered and injected with a mind-consuming parasite, now fighting for their lives. I hope you like it. :)

A warrior at heart

Let the survival game start

A young boy who'd lost his mum

Had been alone since he was young

No one to protect him from the game

They covered him with a cloth made of shame

Let the fun begin

Who will commit the first sin

The artificial world created

The growing feeling of pain and hatred

All the players have gathered here

To overcome their sense of fear

Injected with the parasite

One of them shall win this fight

In dire straits, the boy just cried

For everything that could've worked, he'd tried

But than the one who had been there for him

Sacrificed herself so the boy could win

A warrior in heart and mind

He was the boy who stepped out of line
