Just Drink

Just Drink

A Poem by Margaret Marie Hubbard

You will never see my true self.
Never feel my true love's kiss.
Silently, I will serve you.
Eternally loved; my only wish.
I'll listen to my head once more.
Frozen, never putting up a fight.
You waged battles upon my heart.
A shattered warrior remains tonight.
Placing others before myself.
My head screams, "Just think! Just think!"
Poisoned wine taste on my lips.
My heart cries, "Just drink! Just drink!"

I would need to know more to fully understand this poem, though it has a power about it that speaks of a woman's capacity to love despite violence and abuse... She is wanting to be 'eternally loved' but continues to serve despite her recognition that she needs to look after herself more...

The writing is intriguing and moving... and stirring...as only a woman's emotions can be...

Sometime drinking allow us to make a bad situation live able. Only problem the booze wear off and you must face the real life. I like this poem. A lot of hidden story in the words. Thank you for a excellent poem.

Sad, yet romantic in some dark way.
This poem cast a shadow over me.
Your emotions impose their will on the reader.
Pure talent!
