Mirror of Jesus

Mirror of Jesus

A Poem by Margie F

C 2001

Humbly he came into the world
Without fame
Without fortune
Born to a common life.

He didn’t become a big scholar
Or a well known businessman,
But when he spoke of spiritual things
People stopped and listened.

He didn’t shun those
Who did wrong.
He loved them
And showed them a better way.

He prepared a life
That would be painstakingly sacrificed
for those he loved
Without regard for himself.

Beaten and bruised
Cursed and rejected
He cried
And even had second thoughts.

Accepting the will
That God had provided
He gave up all he ever had"
His life.

Often taken for granted
Even still cursed and rejected
He sacrifices his will
For those he loves.

This is my dad
Such a mirror of Jesus
I never realized
How similar they are.

Both born without means
Both painfully sacrificial
Forgiving and giving
To those undeserved.

How blessed I am
To have a dad like Jesus
A man who will love me
Until the end.

No matter how wrong
Or how bad I am
He still lovingly corrects
And he is my friend.

I feel the same way about my dad. :] I love how passionate you are about Jesus, it seems to me like you have a lot of faith, and I really appreciate that. I basically grew up in a church just like my dad, I guess it's one of those mandatory things in the family. Anyway, very nice writing. :]
