A Time For Everything

A Time For Everything

A Poem by Miss Marlette
"

Idea borrowed from a very famous literary work

"
There's a time for everything on this earth...

A time to reinvent and rise
A time to bow in compromise

A time to step out and to shine
A time to retreat and recline

A time for riding an upswing
A time to pack and fold your wings

there's a time for everything on this earth...

A time to soar and kiss the sky
A time to dig a hole to die

A time to blaze, an alpha plus
A time to say, you've missed the bus

A time to span the stars unscaled
A time to know that you've failed

A time to sparkle and persist
A time to fade into the mist

Straight from the book of Ecclesiastes 3, your poem of contrasts contains some fine wisdom. This one made me think of all those old Rockstars that still cling to the fading spotlight long after their time there has faded; still wearing leather body hugging pants and tight fitting tops while their voice has lost it's strength and the hair has turned to grey. I guess it's a matter of knowing when to bow out with grace and turn the mind to other pursuits. I've never blazed an alpha plus, but I have certainly missed a bus on occasion! Love that couplet! And the Pulitzer Club now?? You are mixing in rarefied air, Miss Marlette! 💛

Very creative couplets. There is a guy named Solomon with whom you'd get along famously.

What a thrilling subject you chose this time, dearie. We were musing on it the other day during tea at aunt Charlotte's. Can't believe how some of her friends still act like springy girls in their sixties. Worth a laugh. Nice poem. *winks* *smiles*

Did Aunt Charlotte dispatch my stuff yet. This is the 3rd time I called her. Still no notification. .. read more
I like that you borrowed the phrase "There's a time..." from Proverbs. I can hear, in my mind, the Byrds singing "Turn, Turn, Turn"

Oh yeah, not Proverbs, but Ecclesiastes
Order Order! The culprit is not time. The culprits are those who do not respect time. Such defaulters are to be restrained in the name of law and tried in the open courts as per the prevailing guidelines on the subject till they express their willingness to retire from writing for good.

Lovely rhyming and poem idea. I like the candid, clear approach. You say it like it is. Keep it up. ❤

I felt sad to read it. Nicely expressed timely poem. Time is good guide to how to behave and act in life as everything is phased.

You got my drift about the phases part. Thanks.
Time runs out like toilet paper and lots of s**t still pasted to the bottom. No wonder life stinks at the end. Worse when the end is not accepted with grace. Well well nice comment from you today, darling.

Worse worse still when others have to smell it too. You made quite a point here. Enjoyed. Thanks.
A sad poem so to read but it's the truth. Sunny days don't last so make hay while it shines. Or roll in it as the case may be. Short life shorter dreams.

Not so sad if you're on a roll. It's all in the mind anyway. Thanks.
