Creatures of habit

Creatures of habit

A Poem by MarDam

Gate in front of me.
Darkness behind them.
I look with no fear,
unlike into your eyes.
Boldly walking through.

Rabbit hole. Wonderland.
Exquisite sound of bass
in my ears.
Its frequency dictating
beats of that thing in
my chest.
Jaw's leading me around,
I can barely assemble
one goddamn sentence.

We're in this together
you're dragging me down
deeper in this hole.

I should get higher
than you or we'll
crumble up next
to each other.

Doesn't sound that bad
almost like
Romeo and Juliet.
We're not poisoned
by accident, yet
deliberately.

In the morning light
I can't find you.
Knock, knock!
Anybody in there?
Breath.Smile.Kiss.

Although
You're laying next to me,
you are not.
Nevermind.
I think I'm not too.

Will we love?
Will we enjoy iridescent sunsest?
Will we delight in ocean waves?

Will we feel at all
'till next rolling down the hole?

We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering.. more..
