Praying Mantis

Praying Mantis

A Poem by Honey-Bee
"

Praying Mantis are veracious eaters and kill their mate

"
A praying mantis
Praying mantis don't kneel
But they pray before each meal
Arms brought together they pray
Waiting for their prey
Eating beetles out of your garden
They will not beg your pardon
They are predators by nature
Giving all credit to their creator.
Voracious is their appetite
Sometimes you will find them near porch lights
To capture moths and other flying insects
They also can be found on branches and sticks.
A praying mantis has the ability
To turn its head backwards in all tranquility
They have a muscular mouth piece
When eating their prey they rarely cease
Camouflaging from green to brown
You may see them in fields and pasture and all around
There are many different species
They make no treaties
Female praying mantis do not play the fool
To the mating male mantis they are very cruel
They will sever the males head
And then eat his body to shreds

Author's Note

Honey-Bee
As a child I had always liked praying mantis because I thought they were a praying insect. I wanted to write a poem about this praying insect. After learning all the information about it online... this is what I actually learned about them.

True and you're most welcome
Interesting piece about one of the many organisms that live on this rock. Makes me wonder if I would be able to write something quite like this for a creature of my choosing.
