Could I Endure Your Touch?

Could I Endure Your Touch?

A Poem by Mary Bosworth

words
they blur on the horizon
blue on blue
the way i feel
its too much to account for
the drops within this sea
every word that has been spoken
somewhere in this great wide open
every tear that fills this ocean
mirroring the endless sky
its unforgiving sun
finds me where there is no shore
no shade, no shelter
just this longing for
and i can
only
close my eyes

words
they join in beads of foam
one by one
they touch upon
the breaking point that is my flesh
and give way to the tide that's rolling in
i swear its wet upon my lips
washing through me like a kiss
coming back to me in waves that drown me now in bliss
and i can
only
close my eyes

words
they fade into my dreams
black on black
the night sky bleeds
and forms a veil that closes in
until i cannot see
but jealous lips won't be denied
they'll taste the salt of tears and tide
that blur the line of sea and sky
and i need
only
close my eyes
to taste
the words
the kiss
good night
