Irony

Irony

A Poem by Nico Marie

Behind these walls,
I can be with you.
I can live.
But my family is outraged;
they've become verbally abusive.
Isn't it strange how they can ignore you your whole life,
and yet think they have a say in it?
Fear not, my dear.
I refuse to leave you.
Fear not, my love.
I will soon be near you.
I will leave everything behind
as if I had no past.
Even if my father is cruel.
Even if he wishes to cast me out.
I have no doubts;
I am not afraid anymore.
My sweet, I shall do it all
if it means you never have to fall.
If you are scared too, you know who to call.
