Stages of Love

Stages of Love

A Poem by MattHeston

Ill advertise it all. Sour breath of alcohol.

Im jealous of her friends. Wanted to see her then.

She cried on my shoulder. I promised Id hold her.

Got locked up in the mall. Holy f**k I said Id call.

Your angers tough to bare. In the end she didnt care.

Jesus Christ I need help. Her love feels like wealth.

I tried to forget it all. Still waiting for her call.

She said I hit the spot. Fucked a chick in the parking lot.

And then I said good bye. Promised I wouldnt cry.

Read the text I didnt send. We were still in love in the end.

And then she twirled her hair. Took off her under wear.

Said I could take it all. She smelled like alcohol.

I have no regrets. Ill take what I can get.

And I lover her still. And I always will.
