Tired of These Force Fed Smiles

Tired of These Force Fed Smiles

A Poem by Matt Stitzel

Big fish in a small pond
Flower grown to large for this garden
Plant that needs repotted

Leaves have grown too lively for you too hold
And roots reach far from where you want me
Continuing to grow out to grab the glowing sun in the sky.

Whatever the heights,
They're not high,
And the lights not bright
Enough

I'm past all this fast food and football.
These are not the good times I see myself
Looking back at.
Tired of these force fed smiles.

I'm hungry for love other than my mothers.
No more flat friendships
Plans and promises that break before they're made.

Wish you were here, Pond would be just right Water warm and breeze blowing
Please come back to ease these diseased gardens.
